NYT Bestselling Author Alan Weisman Presents New Book, 'Hope Dies Last'

Arizona Environment is excited to welcome environmental journalist Alan Weisman on May 5 from 4-5 p.m. in ENR2 S107 for an author talk and signing for his newest book, "Hope Dies Last: Visionary People Across the World, Fighting to Find Us a Future," an extraordinary, long-awaited portrait of hope and resilience as humanity faces a fractured and uncertain future.

At the current point of no return in the climate confrontation, how do people feel, behave, act, plan and dream as we approach a future decidedly different from what we had expected?
This is the question Alan Weisman, New York Times bestselling author of "The World Without Us," grapples with in his new book, "Hope Dies Last."
"Hope Dies Last" is a literary evocation of humanity's current predicament and the core resolve of our species against the most precarious odds people have ever faced. To write this book, Weisman traveled the globe, witnessing climate upheaval and other devastations and meeting the people striving to mitigate and undo our past transgressions.
"Years of discussion with my editor over what should be my next book invariably ended with the question, 'Do you think there’s any hope left?'" Weisman said. "Eventually, we realized that was the question in everyone’s mind, so I set out to look for our best realistic hopes for making it through this make-or-break century."
Join us on May 5 at 4 p.m. in ENR2 S107 for an author talk and book signing with Weisman as he reflects on his global travels through which he witnessed climate upheaval and met the people striving to mitigate and undo our past transgressions.
U of A faculty, staff, and students, as well as the general public, are welcome to attend. The talk will be followed by a book signing and reception.
