Chris Knudson is a postdoctoral research associate with the International Research and Applications Program (IRAP). He has a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Geography at Clark University. His research centers on the history, governance, and practice of managing ecological crises. Through dissertation and postdoctoral work, this has taken two main forms: a political ecological analysis of the production, use, and outcomes of financial tools, like insurance and derivatives, for managing environmental hazards; and a participatory action research approach to studying effective and equitable climate adaptation projects in collaboration with physical scientists in climatology and agronomy.
