My research focuses on the dynamic relationships between policy networks, social learning, and environmental sustainability. I am particularly interested in how decision-making institutions (such as regional land use planning processes) should be structured to encourage cooperation between diverse groups of stakeholders, avoiding the fragmented decision making that characterizes many traditional policy systems. Researching these topics requires a better understanding of how individuals form beliefs about environmental issues, how individuals use and interpret scientific information from their network, and how social networks influence the dynamics of learning, conflict, and cooperation.
