Being ecologically minded began in high school and has evolved into a passion - although not yet to the extreme. My passion increases the more I understand the problems associated with not being sustainable. To me sustainability is not an attachment term for an event with good intentions, but rather the literal sense of infinitely sustaining continuity. In other words, actions and systems that cannot continue forever in a benign way are unsustainable and should not happen. As an architect my interest goes beyond basic sustainable lifestyles, and involves considering ways that buildings can be constructed and operated with minimal negative environmental impact. Energy optimization is good, but not using any fossil fuel energy is best. Outside of family time, teaching time and music time, I am involved with devising energy and environmentally efficient ways to design and construct buildings
