Sustainable Built Environments: Heritage Conservation
The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments degree program educates students in sustainability principles and prepares them with the skills to make communities, buildings, and landscapes more sustainable. Students will gain a scientific understanding of sustainability, learn interdisciplinary design and planning skills, and develop professional communication skills to help them succeed in their career upon graduation. Those who choose to pursue the Heritage Conservation emphasis area will learn how to preserve the historic and cultural integrity of buildings and how to adaptively reuse existing buildings for new purposes.
Biosphere 2: Biosphere 2 is owned by the University of Arizona and is an Earth systems science research facility that focuses on the Earth, its living systems, and sustainability. The facility is located in northern Tucson and serves as a center for research, outreach, and teaching.
