Jefferey L. Burgess’ research interests include respiratory toxicology; reduction in mining-related injuries, exposures, and illnesses; environmental exposure to arsenic; and hazardous materials exposures, including those from illicit methamphetamine laboratories. He is the principal investigator for the National Institute of Health (NIH)/Fogarty International Center funded International Program for Mining Safety and Health as well as for research projects evaluating smoke exposure and arsenic exposure. He is also a co-investigator on Environmental Protection Agency and NIH funded projects evaluating the health effects of environmental arsenic exposure.
