Opportunity Description: 

The Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy has an opening for a Graduate Research Assistant/ Associate (GRA) beginning January 2018 for the Spring semester, potentially extendable based on funding availability. This position will involve researching and aiding in the coordination of partners’ research on adaptive management of river basins in the Arid Americas, with special emphasis on social-ecological systems, water security, climate adaptation, and science-policy dialogues.  This work will directly link to activities of the AQUASEC Center of Excellence in Water Security (http://aquasec.org), supported by the InterAmerican Institute for Global Change Research (IAI). Dr. Christopher Scott, Professor in Geography & Development and Director of the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy, and Dr. Adriana ZúñigaTeran (Staff Scientist of the Udall Center and Senior Lecturer in the College of Architecture, Planning & Landscape Architecture) will be the GRA supervisors. Duties include elaboration of extensive reports to the funding organization, correspondence with partners from Latin America, coordination of meetings, room-reservation, travel arrangements, etc. Desirable backgrounds include Arid Lands Resource Sciences, Geography and Development, Water Policy, Natural Resources Management, and related fields.  Spanish-language proficiency is required. This is a half-time position (0.50 FTE, equivalent to 20 hours per week).  Current stipend rates are $8,000 + ERE per semester for MA/MS students and $8,250 + ERE for PhD students.  Rates for the Spring 2018 are currently being revised per UA policies and may be higher.
