Optical Sciences and Engineering Minor
Students who pursue a minor in Optical Sciences and Engineering will gain a basic understanding of how to work with lasers, optical detectors, optical instrumentation, optic fiber communications, and optical design and fabrication. With this background, students will be able to take courses in photovoltaic solar energy systems and will be able to understand how solar panels operate and how to construct them. Solar energy is a renewable energy source, which optical engineers are working to make more efficient.
University Spectroscopy and Imaging Facilities: USIF are resource facilities dedicated to the acquisition of images for research, industrial and clinical applications. USIF offers multi-user access to high-quality technologies and cost-effective analytical services.
Arizona Materials Lab: AML is a world-class materials research laboratory that has multiple research facilities. This lab studies glass materials, novel materials chemistry, advanced ceramics, and composites. The mission of the AML is to provide Materials Science Engineering faculty, postdocs, graduate, and undergraduate students a collaborative and synergistic environment in which to conduct their research.
SRC Engineering Research Center: The SRC Engineering Research Center develops new and effective technology to reduce the environmental impact of semiconductor manufacturing.
