Cosponsored Seminars

The Institute of the Environment is dedicated to supporting disciplinary and interdisciplinary research related to the environment, from local to global scales. The Institute works in collaboration with faculty, programs, departments, and colleges across the University of Arizona campus to build the research, outreach and educational programs needed to understand and deal with environmental science, issues and policy.

In a continued effort to support this collaboration, we invite departments to apply for funds (up to $500 maximum) to support one speaker per department during each academic year. A university department or program must host the speaker, and graduate students should be involved in the visit. Proposals made jointly by departments are encouraged. At present we envisage supporting up to 15 speakers across the university (depending on finalization of budgets).

Eligibility

To qualify for support, the proposed talks must be on an environmental theme and be of interest to individuals outside the home department or program. The speaker must also be available to meet with students and attend one roundtable discussion, lunch or dinner with the Institute of the Environment faculty and/or students. Acknowledgment must be made of the Institute's cosponsorship on all involvement of the speaker's visit and talk(s).
