“Chasing Coral” Film Screening and Discussion Panel
Join the Institute of the Environment, CEDO, Baja Arizona Climate Reality Project and others for a screening of “Chasing Coral.” Directed by Jeff Orlowski, of “Chasing Ice,” the film documents the dying of coral reefs over three years of shooting and 500+ hours underwater. Bleaching and death of coral reefs is occurring at an unprecedented rate due to rising ocean temperatures resulting from global warming. What's at stake is far more critical than simply a decline in the tourist industry; coral reefs play a vital role in the ocean’s ecosystem on which humans rely. Following the screening, College of Science Dean Joaquin Ruiz will moderate a panel discussion that will include scientists interviewed in the film and working at the UA.
